Home »  Typical Day Schedule

Please keep in mind this is a general schedule of the day. At the  start of the school year while children are getting acclimated to their  new surroundings, we will do things differently. Once the class is  normalized this is the schedule we will use. It will change from time to  time to accommodate special events such as Tea with Mom or Donuts with  Dad.

7:30-9:00  -  Before Care-Children enjoy art projects, playtime, story time, etc.

9:00-9:15  -  Transition Period to begin the Montessori portion of the day.  Circle/Group time: Greeting song, discuss the day, month and year, the weather, go over basic lessons and rules of the classroom and go off to  work.

9:00-11:30  -  Head teacher conducts various lessons throughout the morning, the  children move about freely choosing their own work but within limits.  During this time frame, food is placed at the snack table and 2 friends  may have snack together, taking turns throughout the morning.

11:30-12:00  -  Transition Period: Children will enjoy recess time then half-day  children will prepare to go home and the other children prepare for  lunch.

12:00-12:45  -  Children will have their lunch followed by bathroom breaks and storytime.

12:45-2:15  -  Children will rest.

1:15-2:15  -  Children who have not fallen asleep will continue their lessons.

2:15-3:00  -  Clean-up Time: Children will help tidy up the classroom. Once  children are acclimated in our classroom, jobs will be assigned and  changed on a weekly basis. At this time the children with a specific job  will begin their assigned task such as sweeping, watering the plants,  among other duties. They will enjoy recess, outdoors weather permitting.

2:50-3:00  -  Transition Period: The children who go home will gather their  belongings and prepare for dismissal. The children who stay in aftercare  will prepare for their afternoon snack.

3:00-6:00  -  The children in our aftercare program will work on art projects,  reading, games, music and movement, outside play (as weather permits)  until they are picked up by their parent/guardian
